Railways in the Yangtze River Delta region are predicted to handle more than 7 million passengers during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, China Railway Shanghai Group said on Wednesday.

The rail travel rush will last from September 18 to September 21. The daily peak passenger flow is expected to reach around 2.3 million on September 19, the first day of the three-day holiday.

Extra trains will be put into operation to cope with the surging demand. Rail authorities have planned to add six trains from the region to popular destinations like Beijing and Nanchang. More short-distance train services will also be launched.

Passengers are reminded to wear masks during their trips and have temperature and health QR code checked before entering railway stations.
