Railways in the Yangtze River Delta region are predicted to handle over 12.8 million passenger trips during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, more than that in the same period in 2019, according to China Railway Shanghai Group. The travel rush will last from June 11 to 15. The passenger flow is expected to peak on June 12, the first day of the three-day holiday, with about 3 million trips. 122 extra trains will operate in the region during the period to cope with the surging demand, the group said. Both the passenger flow and the number of additional trains are expected to hit a record high. 13 additional trains will run from the region to destinations including Beijing, Wuhan, Nanchang, Hankou, Pingxiang and Ganzhou. Meanwhile, 109 extra trains will operate within the region.
