A general airport project kicked off in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province. Upon completion, it will become a flagship general airport in the Yangtze River Delta region. The 43-hectare Bailong General Airport, the largest and best-equipped of its kind in the province, is expected to open in early 2022. A total of 460 million yuan ($72 million) will be injected into the project. The airport will specialize in short-distance transportation, aviation training, aviation logistics, emergency rescue, scientific research flight test, agriculture and forestry operations, sightseeing touring, skydiving, air sports and aviation science popularization. The project will play an important role in the city’s development of the general aviation industry and serve the regional need of general aviation.
