The economic regulator of East China’s Anhui province gave a nod to a feasibility report on the G3 Tongling Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge project, Anhui Daily reported on Monday.

Situated about 720 meters away from the existing Tongling Yangtze River Highway Bridge, the 11.88-km new bridge will be part of the G3 expressway from Beijing to Taipei. The project is expected to cost 8.68 billion yuan (about US$1.33 billion), according to the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

The commission said it will work together with the municipal government of Tongling to kick off the project as early as possible.

The project will play an important role in improving regional rail network and promoting the city’s development, the report said.
