The Huashan Yaochi project site in Dangtu County, Maanshan City, was an abandoned mine of the former Guoan Mining Corporation, covering an area of about 80,000 square meters. In recent years, the Daqingshan Wildlife Management Company Ltd has invested about 180 million yuan (approx. $27.54 million USD) into its reconstruction, and has conducted a series of converting measures including consolidating mountain surfaces through special design, repairing slopes of previous pit walls, planting evergreen vegetation, constructing recreational and sightseeing facilities, etc. The one-time abandoned mine now serves as an amusement park, making it an unique case of changing an obsolete mine into a wildlife world project integrating functions of ecological restoration, leisure and entertainment, animal watching and zoology popularization in Anhui Province.

The once abandoned mine has turned into an amusement park

The amusement park is equipped with a large-scale artificial waterfall, ultra-long rafting, observation deck, glass boardwalk, rock climbing area, bungee jumping, aerial zip-line, hang glider, and on-lake water entertainment facilities. There are also future plans for underwater restaurants and bed-and-breakfast hotels to be built here. Ever since the opening of the park at the beginning of this year, the project has attracted a large number of tourists from surrounding areas.
