The Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province in China and the China Cultural Center in Benin have recently held an online activity featuring intangible cultural heritage. More than 20 craftsmen in Benin took part in the activity, one of the activities jointly launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and provincial-level culture and tourism authorities to promote mutual exchanges and understanding between China and Benin. Tang Manjie, inheritor of Wanghe Shuxi, introduced how the provincial intangible cultural heritage item had been passed down from generation to generation, and showed the Beninian craftsmen how to make bamboo fans, bamboo mats, bamboo slippers and bamboo ornaments. The two sides discussed issues such as the development of Shuxi industry, technical innovation and cooperation model, hoping to host more similar activities to better exploit bamboo resources and promote the diversified development of the bamboo industry in Benin.
