The number of newly registered market entities in east China’s Anhui province reached 273,700 in the first quarter of 2022, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.45 percent, data from the local administration for market regulation showed. As of March 31, the number of market entities totaled 6.78 million in the province, up 12.20 percent from the same period a year ago, according to Anhui Administration for Market Regulation. Among the new market entities, 95,600 are enterprises, up 10.22 percent, while 176,500 are self-employed businesses, an increase of 15.49 percent. 219,000 newly registered market entities are engaged in the tertiary industry, making up 80.01 percent of the total. The primary sector saw the highest growth of 20 percent in the number of new market entities, which hit 23,600. Traditional industries took the lion’s share of newly registered market entities in the first quarter, said the administration. 108,800 new market entities are engaged in wholesale and retail industries, accounting for 39.74 percent of the total. The number of newly registered accommodation and catering businesses stood at 28,200, followed by 24,600 ones specializing in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery and 19,600 ones providing residential services and repair services. The manufacturing industry expanded steadily in the Jan-Mar period, with the number of newly registered market entities in railways, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industries up 96.55 percent year-on-year, and that of the chemical fiber manufacturing industry up 241.18 percent.
