Industrial firms with annual turnover over 20 million yuan (about US$ 3.1 million) in Anhui province posted a year-on-year increase of 13.6 percent in profit in 2021, sending the two-year average growth to 9.3 percent, according to the Bureau of Statistics of Anhui. State-owned enterprises reaped a total profit of 81.16 billion yuan last year, up 12.2 percent from a year earlier. Companies run by overseas investors increased annual profit by 15.6 percent to 34.04 billion yuan. The profit of private businesses stood at 84.63 billion yuan, up 9.2 percent year-on-year. 25 out of 40 industries saw year-on-year increases in profit, including the computer, communication and other electric appliance manufacturing industry (110 percent), the chemical raw material and product manufacturing industry (48.6 percent), the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry (84.4 percent) and the pharmaceutical industry (96.3 percent). The operating revenue of major industrial enterprises reached more than 4.4 trillion yuan in 2021, up 16.6 percent year-on-year, the bureau said.
