A freight train left Chita of Russia for Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui province, on Thursday, marking the launch of a new cargo rail service between Hefei and Europe. The train, carrying 100 TEUs of boards, is expected to arrive in Hefei after about 15 days. Two new routes were launched earlier this month, one from Russia’s Igirma to Hefei and the other from the Chinese city to Poznan in Poland. The train to Poznan departed Hefei on Wednesday, transporting made-in-Anhui home appliances worth 10.7 million US dollars. Hefei has operated 318 China-Europe freight trains since January. They have handled goods worth more than 1 billion US dollars.
