Tourism promotional events featuring a demonstration area in the South of Anhui province were held between Wednesday and Friday in Shanghai, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, and Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province.
South Anhui International Culture and Tourism Demonstration Area consists of seven cities - Huangshan, Chizhou, Xuancheng, Ma'anshan, Wuhu, Tongling and Anqing. It is known for an advantageous location, unspoiled ecological environment, rich cultural heritage and abundant tourism resources.
While addressing the event in Shanghai, Yuanhua, head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province, introduced four itineraries, including one to explore world cultural heritage sites.
There are a number of tourist attractions in the area, such as the world-renowned Huangshan Mountain, villages of Xidi and Hongcun, two UNESCO cultural heritage sites, and Jiuhua Mountain, one of China’s four most famous Buddhist mountains.
Exhibitions and local opera performances were also held at the events.
The events were launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province as well as the municipal governments of Huangshan, Chizhou, Xuancheng and Anqing.
