Railways in the Yangtze River Delta region are expected to handle more than 20 million passengers during the upcoming National Day holiday, according to China Railway Shanghai Group. The rail travel rush will last from September 28 to October 8. The daily passenger flow is predicted to reach more than 3 million on October 1, the first day of the seven-day holiday. Extra trains will be put into operation to reduce traffic pressure. Rail authorities have planned to add 22 trains from the region to popular destinations including Pingxiang, Wuhan, Qingdao, Jiujiang, Nanchang and Beijing. More short-distance train services will also be launched. Passengers are reminded to wear masks during their trips and have temperature and health QR code checked before entering railway stations.
