The 13th Feidong Lotus Culture and Tourism Festival kicked off on August 27 in Longqidi Wetland Park in Feidong county in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui province.

The park is an important part of the provincial capital’s urban greening ecosystem and also its best spot to admire lotus flowers.

This year’s festival continues to feature a series of activities, including shooting a promotional video on the county’s B&B industry.

The B&B industry has emerged as a new driving force for rural revitalization and industrial development in recent years.

Feidong started piloting the B&B program three years ago. Many idle houses turned into B&Bs after having been leased to operators or run in partnership, said Xue Xiaomei, head of the B&B Branch of Hefei Tourism Association.

The county is home to 26 B&Bs this year, ranking first in Hefei. It also took the first place in terms of total investment in the industry, Xue said.
