Nature Publishing Group has updated the latest Nature Index recently, ranking the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) as the 4th top university in the Chinese mainland.
Based in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, the USTC follows Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nanjing University, the index shows.
The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nankai University and Xiamen University are also among the top 10 Chinese mainland universities.
The rankings are based on the “WFC，weighted fractional count”, considered the most indicative of various measures that Nature Index publishes. The index rates institutions and countries according to the number and quality of research publications across 68 of the world’s leading science journals, including journals within and outside the Nature Publishing Group.
The USTC is ranked 3rd among Chinese mainland universities both in the field of chemistry and in Physical Sciences.
