Michiaki Oguri, chief representative of JETRO China in Shanghai and other representatives fromHefei Japanese Businessmen Club paid a courtesy visit to Hefei Municipal Foreign Affairs Office (Hefei FAO) on January 19.
Chen Qiliang, director of Hefei FAO received the guests and briefed them on the economic and social development of Hefei in 2017. He told them that the GDP of the city in 2017 exceeded 700billion yuan, increased by 8.8%, and the revenue reached 125.1 billion yuan. He credited the achievements to the sound economic structure, rich educational resources, convenient transportation,and efficient and honest governance.
“In recent years, Hefei has persisted in opening up, and foreign enterprises have developed well inthe city,” the director added.
When talking about the sister-city relations and culture exchanges, Chen mentioned the long history and good foundation.
Chen said that Hefei would continue to optimize business environment and provide convenience for foreign investors.
Michiaki Oguri spoke highly of the fast development of Hefei and the contributions continuouslymade by Hefei-based Japanese enterprises for the industrial transformation and upgrading of the city. He said opportunities would still exist although Japanese enterprises in Hefei face challenges arising from the increase of labor cost and strengthened environmental protection measures.
The chief representative also informed the inland-bound, particularly Hefei-bound investment willingness of Japanese enterprises in the coastal areas of China. He hoped to strengthen communication with Hefei government departments and push more investment projects to Hefei.
