Anhui province’s annual agriculture trade fair ended on Sunday with a turnover of 41 million yuan ($15 million), anhuinews.com reported.
The 3-day event attracted multiple agricultural firms from 30 Chinese mainland provinces, Hong Kong, Taiwan as well as 17 foreign countries. Over 18,000 types of farm products were on display, compared with 16,000-odd ones last year.
Using pictures, LED screens and social media, the fair offered a glimpse at the province’s modern agricultural progress.
Official statistics showed on-the-scene sales stood at 41 million yuan, up by 5 million from a year earlier. 6,037 trade deals valued at 12 trillion yuan were signed, compared with 11 trillion yuan-worth ones in 2015.
251 major programs worth a total of 79 billion yuan were promoted at the fair, covering a lot of areas like farming, food processing and agri-tourism. At last, 229 out of them got investment.
In total, the event succeeded in luring investors to 602 programs worth 98 trillion yuan, up 5 percent year-on-year. Eco-agriculture and poverty alleviation emerged as new magnets for investment.
The fair also brought together more than 150 agricultural professionals, who gave face-to-face training to 22,000 farmers from around the province. Another 100-plus experts were in talks with agricultural businesses to commercialize their research findings.
