Xuan Writing-Brush

Xuan writing-brush, as one of the top four Chinese pens, has a history over 2,000 years. As early as 223 BC, Meng Tian, a general of the Qin Dynasty. When his army marched to Zhongshan Mountain, Jingxian County, Anhui Province, he found big rabbits with long hair, so he improved the bamboo brush and made it into a writing brush, which is known as the prototype of Xuan writing-brush.

The production of Xuan writing-brush mainly includes selecting hairs, washing and screening hairs in water, making pen tubes, assembling of hairs and tubes, trimming hairs, embedding, carving and package checking ,and more than one hundred links. An eligible Xuan writing-brush should maintain sharp, round, symmetrical and powerful. And there are three main types of Xuan writing-brushes, and those made of wool, weasel tail hairs and rabbit hairs are called Yanghao, langhao, and Zihao respectively.
