Karate athlete wins 4th gold for Anhui

Wang Zhiwei of Anhui won a gold medal in men’s 67kg karate at the 14th National Games on Friday.

A total of 18 karate athletes from around the country took part in the competition in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. Wang won all the way from the eight-final and quarter-final to semifinal and defeated Xiang Jiahao of Zhejiang in the final.

Born in Guangde in the southeast of the province, Wang was also the gold medalist in the event at the 13th National Games held in Tianjin.

Athletes of Anhui have bagged four golds at the ongoing National Games. Lai Xiaoxiao clinched the province's first gold medal by winning the women's all-round martial arts routine event on September 2, Wang Xiaojing won a gold in the trap mixed team event on September 9, and Hu Kai won a gold in the men's 10m air pistol event on September 13.
