Hu Kai, born in 2002 in Anqing city, won the third gold medal for east China’s Anhui province at the 14th National Games on Monday. Hu scored 241.3 points in the final of the 10m air pistol event held in Xi’an, northwest China’s Shaanxi province. A total of 63 shooters from around the country took part in the competition, including Pang Wei, the 10-meter air pistol mixed team gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics. Four of them- Hu Kai, Yuan Zongming, Zhang Hao and Guo Liangen - came from Anhui. Hu came in at 8th in the qualifying stage and entered the final, competing with seven athletes from Shandong, Xinjiang, Hebei, Guizhou, Fujian and Zhejiang. He won a narrow victory with a score 0.5 points higher than the silver medalist. Hu started being trained in Anhui Shooting Sports Management Center in 2018. He bagged a silver and a bronze at the 2nd Youth Games of China in 2019, and won a gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the National shooting Championships 2021.
