East China’s Anhui province earmarked 49.43 billion yuan ($7.75 billion) in the first quarter of 2022 to ensure livelihood, accounting for 53.86 percent of the annual target, the Department of Finance said on Monday.

The department has allocated funds to each city and county for six livelihood projects including preschool education, assistance to people in need, medical insurance and assistance, and rehabilitation of the disabled.

The department also rolled out a financing plan. Under the plan, a subsidy of 1.04 billion yuan was provided for people in the northern part of the province to benefit them from a water diversion project.

In addition, financial departments at city- and county-level encouraged market participation in funding livelihood projects such as the non-staple food project and elderly care.
