The Anhui delegation to the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) held a plenary meeting on March 5 to deliberate on the annual government work report delivered by Chinese premier Li Keqiang. You Quan, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting. The plenary meeting was chaired by Zheng Shanjie, Party chief of Anhui province and head of the delegation. Deputy heads - Wang Qingxian, Liu Hui, Xie Guangxiang and Wang Cuifeng - were also present. The government work report summed up achievements objectively and concretely, analyzed the situation deeply and thoroughly, outlined effective measures and looked forward to the future inspiringly, the delegation agreed. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, China made new great achievements amid complicated situation of risks and challenges at home and abroad during the past year, the deputies said. This year marks the convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. The deputies pledged to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the guiding principles of the Party’s 19th National Congress and all the plenary sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee, act on the general principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, apply the new development philosophy, create a new pattern of development, further reform and opening up on all fronts, pursue innovation-driven development, advance supply-side structural reform as the main task, ensure better coordination between COVID-19 response and economic and social development and between pursuing development and upholding security, ensure stability on six key fronts and maintain security in six key areas, improve livelihood, keep major economic indicators within an appropriate range, and maintain social stability.
