The Department of Ecology and Environment of Anhui Province recently released the air quality ranking of all 16 cities in the province in 2020, with Huangshan, Xuancheng and Chizhou ranking the top three. Chizhou saw the biggest improvement in air quality year-on-year, at 17.6%.

The ranking is determined by the size of the Air Quality Composite Index, with a smaller index indicating better air quality. The evaluation takes 6 indicators into account, including PM2.5, PM10 and CO. Last year, the average concentration of PM2.5 in the province was 39 micrograms per cubic meter, and the proportion of good days was 82.9 percent, the data showed.

According to the data in the ranking table, the air quality of all 16 cities improved year on year. Chizhou, Wuhu and Anqing ranked the top three in terms of improvement rate.
