East China's Anhui province was honored by the central government for its outstanding performance in blood donations from 2018 to 2019, according to the Health Commission of Anhui Province. All the 16 cities around the province received the same honor. In addition, 16,571 people were hailed for donating their blood, and 426 for their voluntary services to blood donors. The province has won the honor for ten consecutive years. Up to 543,600 blood donations were collected in 2020. The total volume reached 1.8 trillion milliliters, up 3.8 percent from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the province sent 2.9 million milliliters of blood to Hubei province and 14,200 milliliters of blood plasma to Wuhan, capital of the province, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ranking 1st in the country.
