A train loaded with exports left Huaibei, a city in East China’s Anhui province, on Sunday morning for Qingdao Port in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, marking the launching of a rail-sea combined transport service connecting Huaibei and Qingdao. The train arrived at Qingdao Port about ten hours later and the goods on it were then transported by ship to Japan, the Republic of Korea and countries in Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas. The rail-sea combined transport service can help enterprises reduce transport costs by 800 to 1,000 yuan per TEU, according to a rough estimate. Huaibei launched the service as part of its efforts to establish channels of opening up, form a new pattern of open economy, and promote higher-quality transformation and development.
