East China’s Anhui province will be stepping up efforts to develop the intelligent household appliance industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). The World Manufacturing Convention (WMC), which is slated to be held in the province from November 19 to 22, will showcase a number of smart home appliances made by local manufacturers. In addition, many famous producers from home and abroad opened plants here, including Midea, Gree and BSH. Anhui’s output of refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and TV sets reached nearly 100 million, or about 25 percent of the national total. The province has also expanded the presence of local household appliances in global market. The export of household appliances rose 20.1 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2021, and it made up 8.8 percent of the provincial total during the same period, data from local customs showed. The province will foster the high-end, intelligent, digital and network-oriented development of the household appliance sector. It aims to raise the output value to 600 billion yuan ($93.9 billion) in 2025, according to an official document.
