Per capita disposable income of rural residents in Anhui rose 11.7 percent year-on-year to 13,988 yuan ($2,189) in the first three quarters of 2021, higher than the national average of 11.6 percent, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Anhui Province said. The increase brought the province to the 12th place in China and 3rd in the central region. It ranked 10th in the country and 1st in the central region in terms of rural residents’ per capital income. Ten out of the province’s 16 cities saw their growth rates the same as or higher than the provincial average, namely Wuhu (12.6 percent), Ma’anshan (12.5 percent), Fuyang (12.4 percent), Tongling (12.3 percent), Chizhou (12.2 Percent), Lu’an (12.1 percent), Huangshan (12 percent), Suzhou (11.9 percent), Chuzhou (11.8 percent) and Hefei (11.7 percent). The recently-concluded 11th Communist Party of China (CPC) Anhui Provincial Congress proposed that farmers’ income in Anhui should exceed the national level during the next five years. That means the growth rates need to be at least 0.7 percentage points higher than the national average each year, an official with the department said. The province will continue to increase rural residents’ income by developing more rural industries and improving farmers’ working skills, according to the official.
