Anhui’s consumer price index(CPI), a main gauge of inflation, grew 1.0 percent year on year in April, compared to the 0.6 percent growth in March , the Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics in Anhui said. Food prices declined 0.1 percent, while non-food prices rose 1.2 percent. Between January and April, the CPI edged up 0.3 percent from the same period a year ago. Vegetable and pork prices dropped 6.7 percent and 21.6 percent, respectively. Prices of aquatic products climbed 22.0 percent, and egg prices also increased 8.6 percent. Prices of transport and communication, pushed by the rising international crude oil prices, rose 4.2 percent in April. Prices of education, culture and entertainment grew 2.7 percent. Prices of garment, housing and medical care edged up 0.6 percent., 0.5 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. On a monthly basis, the province’s CPI fell 0.4 percent in April, versus the 0.6 percent decline in March. Food prices decreased 2.2 percent, while non-food prices remained unchanged from a month earlier.
