Construction on a 121-km high-speed railway from Chizhou to Huangshan in East China’s Anhui province is expected to kick off in December this year, ahwang.cn reported on Thursday, citing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIS) information published by its builder.

Situated in the south of Anhui, the rail line will join the intercity railway linking Anhui’s Anqing with Nanjing, capital of East China’s Jiangsu province, and also connect the to-be-built Nanchang-Jingdezhen-Huangshan rail, Beijing-Fuzhou Railway Anhui Co. said in the first announcement on the EIS of the project.

The 121.645-km-long railway will have four stations and allow trains to run at a maximum speed of 350km per hour, according to the announcement.

The rail will pass renowned tourist destinations such as Jiuhua Mountain, one of China’s major Buddhist mountains, Taiping Lake and Huangshan Mountain, a UNESCO world heritage site.
