Authorities have started researching feasible plans on building a high-speed railway from Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province to Nanjing, capital of East China’s Jiangsu province.
Through public bidding, China Railway Corp, the country’s rail operator, authorized China Railway First Survey & Design Institute Group Co.to conduct the survey and design of the project.
The rail is part of a longer one called Yanjiang high-speed railway, or the high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, which will connect 22 cities from Shanghai to Chengdu, capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan province.
As it will allow trains to run at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the rail line will shorten the travel time from Hefei to Shanghai to less than two hours.
