Hefei-Anqing High-speed Rail Officially Opens Today

At 8:38 on December 22nd, 2020, the G8311 EMU train departs Hefeinan railway station heading for Anqing, a thousand-year-old city alongside the Yangtze River, known to the world as the home of Huangmei opera. Its launch marks the official operation of the Hefei-Anqing high-speed rail. Tourists can now travel between Hefei and Anqing in a straight line within 73 minutes at soonest.

Located in southwestern Anhui, the high-speed railway line starts at Hefei, the provincial capital, southwards passing cities and counties including Feixi, Shucheng, Lujiang, Huaining etc, and ends at Anqing. The total length of the line is about 176 kilometers and the designed speed is 350 kilometers per hour. 7 stations are set along the line.

After the opening, 5 pairs of EMU trains will firstly be arranged to run at 300 kilometers per hour, which will be able to complete the entire trip in 1 hour and 13 minutes. After the implementation of the new national train diagram on January 20, 2021, the railway line will operate with at most 12 pairs of trains on daily line and 1 pair on peak line per day during the initial stage.
