Anhui's regional innovation capability jumps to 7th in China

The Evaluation Report on China's Regional Innovation Capability 2022(hereinafter referred to as "the Report") was officially released in Beijing on December 10. According to the Report, Anhui jumped to 7th place in the country, securing its high rank for 11 consecutive years.

The Report shows that among the five primary indicators of knowledge creation, knowledge acquisition, enterprise innovation, innovation environment, and innovation performance, Anhui has made remarkable progress in knowledge acquisition, ranking 18th, up 8 places from 2021; Its knowledge creation ranks 7th in the country, up 3 places from the previous year; enterprise innovation and innovation performance rank 5th and 7th in the country respectively, both up 1 place from the previous year.

In recent years, Anhui Province has been focusing on major innovation carriers to strengthen the layout of strategic forces, depending on innovation sources to bolster the frontiers of original innovation, promoting core technological development to tackle key problems, concentrating on the transformation of research results to catalyze the technological integration of industries, and placing a high value on institutional innovation to establish an ecology of innovation and entrepreneurship. Over the years, Anhui has made significant progress on the basic indicators of innovation.

Guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology and prepared by the China Science and Technology Development Strategy Research Group in collaboration with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Evaluation Report on China's Regional Innovation Capability is a comprehensive annual research report on China's regional innovation system, which has been published continuously since 1999 and has played a positive role in developing China into a science and technology giant. It has also worked as a valuable reference for Anhui to identify its position in the country, find its shortcomings, set its goals, and persistently push forward science and technology innovation.
