Snow and sleet accompanied by gusts will hit parts of northern China from Sunday evening to Tuesday, the country's top meteorological authority said Sunday.

Temperatures in parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces will plummet by more than 12 degrees Celsius during the period, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Heavy fog is expected to shroud parts of Liaoning, Tianjin, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Sichuan from Sunday evening to Monday morning.

Due to the heavy fog, visibility in parts of Shandong and Chongqing will reduce to less than 200 meters.

Haze is forecast in parts of northern and central China from Sunday night to Wednesday.

Affected by an upcoming cold front, the haze will dissipate from north to south starting Thursday, the center said.
