Shanghai authorities issued a research report recently, classifying and ranking Chinese cities based on scientific and technological innovation capacity for the first time. Hefei in Anhui province together with Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan and Qingdao ranked as sci-tech leading cities, according to the report. The report stressed that the high-quality patent of Hefei ranked the first in China, accounting for over 50 percent. In terms of proportion of government expenditure in urban areas covered by the financial science and technology allocation, Hefei ranked second in China. (By Li Ruichuan)
