East China’s Anhui province made impressive achievements in the development of intellectual property rights (IPR), ranking 8th in the country during the first three quarters, according to the local administration for market regulation. 102,832 patents were granted in the province from January to September, up 22.6 percent year-on-year. 17,954 out of them were invention patents, representing an increase of 38.9 percent. Anhui had an average of 19.1 invention patents for every 10,000 people in the first nine months, up 39.4 percent from the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, the province’s trademark applications rose 1.0 percent year-on-year to 216,000. As of September 15, the number of valid registered trademarks hit 956,700, up 32.6 percent. 1,649 PCT international patent applications were filed in the province in the first three quarters this year, 2.7 times that of 2020.
