National Hefei Shushan Economic and Technological Development Zone opens

On the morning of July 27, the national-level Hefei Shushan Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially inaugurated and the launching meeting for the co-development of the zero-carbon industrial base of China Environment Valley was held.

At the meeting, four programs including a zero carbon technology academic research base invested over 2.4 billion yuan by SUNGROW, a clean energy and electrical engineering firm in Hefei were signed.

On June 17, the State Council approved the upgrading of Hefei Shushan Economic Development Zone to a national economical and technological development zone, which made it become the first economic zone promoted to the national level since 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

In the future, the zone will follow the development path and development goals in depth according to the national economic and technological development zone standards. The zone aims to develop a 100 billion-yuan industry (e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce), two industries each valued 50 billion yuan (environment and construction), support three enterprises each worth more than 10 billion yuan, cultivate eight to ten listed companies and gather more than 500 national high-tech enterprises by the end of the 14th Five-year Plan period (2021-25), with GDP making up half of the Shushan district.
