China’s youth organizations plan to award May Fourth Medals to 30 individuals and 15 groups nationwide, including one group from East China’s Anhui province, according to a list currently open for public review. The list of winners is made by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation. As the top honor for young Chinese, the medals are awarded annually. Among the winners is a group of young workers with the Anhui-based China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group who have built three mega bridges, five bridges and two tunnels along the railway linking Yuxi in Southwest China’s Yunnan province and Mohan, a township on the China-Laos border. The workers set many world records and provided China’s solution for railway construction despite a slew of difficulties and obstacles such as a tight schedule, complicated geological conditions and high safety risks.
