Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, a scientific institution under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, held a meeting last week to open a sci-tech innovation center in the high-tech zone of Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province. Early in 2018, the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the academy as well as Anhui Environmental Science and Technology Group Co. to jointly promote the establishment of the center. The center will be devoted to the research of key technologies and research and development (R&D) of advanced equipment in the fields like pollution control in Chaohu Lake Basin and air pollution control. The center will focus on building "one center, three laboratories, one think tank and one industry base". It will provide technical and decision-making support for resolving environmental issues in the Chaohu Lake Basin and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The Hefei center aims to grow into a world-class platform for innovation and commercialization of environmental sciences and also for international exchange and cooperation in that field.
