The Anhui delegation to the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) held a panel discussion on March 5 to deliberate on the annual government work report delivered by Chinese premier Li Keqiang. You Quan, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, took part in the discussion. The panel discussion was chaired by Li Jinbin, Party chief of Anhui province and head of the delegation. Deputy heads - Wang Qingxian, Deng Xiangyang, Liu Hui, Shen Suli, Xie Guangxiang and Wang Cuifeng - were also present. The government work report sums up achievements objectively and concretely, analyzes the situation deeply and thoroughly, outlines effective measures and looks forward to the future inspiringly, the delegation agreed. China achieved major strategic success in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic and was the world’s only major economy to achieve growth during the past year. The nation also attained a complete victory in the fight against poverty and scored decisive achievements in securing a full victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the deputies said. The year of 2021 marks the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, with the China embarking on a new journey of fully building a modern socialist country. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China will strive to keep its major economic indicators within an appropriate range, expand domestic demand as a strategy, strengthen science and technology to provide strategic support for the national development, pursue high-level opening-up, and safeguard social harmony and stability, according to the deputies.
