In the first five months of this year, Anhui's automobile production, new energy vehicle production, and automobile export volume have all ranked first in the country. How has Anhui's automotive industry achieved such a leap in just a few years? Today, in "Research Tour on Vibrant China," we follow reporters to decode the secrets behind the "accelerated run" of Anhui's automotive industry.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Anhui accelerated the research and development and application of new technologies, processes, and products by establishing the Provincial New Energy Automobile Industry Cluster Construction Strategic Advisory Committee and the Provincial Future Intelligent Connected New Energy Automobile Innovation Center. Currently, Anhui has formed two major innovation systems: the Automobile Innovation Center and the Automobile Ecological Laboratory, with the former having carried out over 50 projects cumulatively. 

By forming innovation consortia across the entire industry chain, Anhui has continuously transformed its core technological advantages into industrial competitive advantages, effectively leading to increased investments in Anhui by vehicle manufacturers such as NIO, Volkswagen Anhui, and Hefei BYD. Reporters at the Hefei Xinqiao Smart Electric Vehicle Industrial Park observed that over a hundred newly introduced and nurtured auto parts enterprises are accelerating operations, fully committed to providing supporting services for vehicle manufacturers like NIO and Volkswagen Anhui.

While accelerating the deployment of the automotive industry chain and innovation chain in Anhui, reporters have found that through deepening multidimensional cooperation, Anhui's automotive industry "circle of friends" has expanded to more than 150 countries and regions. Chery has been ranked first in the export of China's own-brand passenger cars for 22 consecutive years. From January to May this year, the province's automobile export volume continued to rank first in the country.

Since the 14th Five-Year Plan began, Anhui's automobile and new energy vehicle production has increased from 1.161 million units and 105,000 units in 2020 to 3.57 million units and 1.684 million units in 2024, respectively, representing a twofold and fifteenfold increase; the ranking has risen from 8th and 4th in the country to 2nd place nationally for both. From January to May this year, the province's total automobile and new energy vehicle production stood at 1.2357 million units and 613,300 units, respectively, both ranking first in the country, achieving a historic breakthrough.
