According to the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission, to accelerate the construction of an internationally competitive new energy vehicle (NEV) industry cluster, the Anhui Provincial Automotive Office and other departments will vigorously support the development of the NEV power battery recycling industry. On July 29, a related work plan was issued. By 2027, Anhui aims to establish a number of provincial-level NEV power battery recycling industry bases.

Optimizing Industrial Development Layout

The work plan requires local cities to optimize the layout of the battery recycling and dismantling network. It supports initiatives such as the Hefei Lujiang High-tech Zone Venous Industrial Park and the Bengbu Circular Economy Industrial Park in guiding enterprises to settle in and creating demonstration bases for NEV power battery recycling. Additionally, NEV manufacturers, power battery producers, and end-of-life vehicle recycling and dismantling enterprises are encouraged to jointly establish regional recycling centers, share battery recycling, storage, and transportation branches, and build a digital recycling service platform.

Strengthening Industry Chain Coordination and Fostering Leading Enterprises

Leveraging the Anhui Industrial Brain, the plan aims to build an industry docking platform covering the entire province's vehicle manufacturing, battery manufacturing, and end-of-life vehicle recycling and comprehensive utilization enterprises. This will help a number of leading power battery comprehensive utilization enterprises grow stronger. Companies like Hefei Gotion, Eagoal Power, and Anhui Lvwo are encouraged to enhance technological innovation and improve their core competitiveness.

Breaking Through Key Core Technologies

The province will promote leading enterprises to build innovation platforms and increase financial support. It will encourage key enterprises, research institutions, and higher education institutions to engage in technological research on key core technologies and complete equipment for flexible non-destructive rapid dismantling and harmless treatment of residual materials.

Standardizing Industry Development

Enterprises are encouraged to actively participate in the formulation of national and industry standards for various stages of NEV power battery design, production, packaging, transportation, and recycling. There will also be increased supervision of NEV power battery enterprises in production, end-of-life, recycling dismantling, and waste emissions.

Goals for 2027

By 2027, Anhui aims to establish a number of provincial-level NEV power battery recycling industry bases, cultivate and expand a number of leading enterprises, break through key core technologies, formulate a series of local and group standards, and create a nationally influential NEV power battery recycling industry cluster.
