Rural revitalization begins with transportation. A network of "smooth, safe, comfortable, and beautiful" rural roads tightly connects the countryside with the national market. By facilitating the two-way flow of people, goods, capital, and information between urban and rural areas, these roads help lift rural regions out of poverty, achieve moderate prosperity, and move towards wealth. By the end of 2023, the total mileage of rural roads in the province is about 210,000 kilometers, with a rural road density of 149.8 kilometers per hundred square kilometers.

In 2023, an early allocation of 1.04 billion yuan in provincial subsidies for rural road maintenance projects was made (an increase of about 30% over the previous year), with an additional 10% and 15% increase for provincial-level poverty alleviation counties in the old revolutionary base areas such as the Dabie Mountains and national-level poverty alleviation counties, respectively. Throughout the year, 12,000 kilometers of rural road maintenance projects were completed, achieving 116% of the annual target.

Anhui's transportation sector continues to advance the transformation of rural passenger transport routes into public transit systems. By the end of 2023, the proportion of eligible administrative villages with access to public transit in the province reached 60%, with the supply capacity and service level of rural passenger transport continuously improving. A transportation network has essentially taken shape, centered around county towns, with townships and administrative villages as nodes, and natural villages as outlets, tightening the connections between rural areas and between urban and rural areas.
