Anhui sets travel record highs during Spring Festival holiday

On February 17th, the Spring Festival holiday transportation came to an end. This year's Spring Festival holiday witnessed a strong desire for travel among the public, with passenger volume remaining at a high level. The expressways, railways, and civil aviation all achieved historical highs in terms of passenger traffic.

According to the Anhui Provincial Department of Transportation, from February 9th to February 17th, which covered the period from New Year's Eve to the eighth day of the first lunar month, the total traffic volume of the provincial expressways reached 20.6997 million vehicles, with an average of 2.3 million vehicles per day. Compared to the holiday period in 2023, there was an average daily growth of 38.29%, and compared to the holiday period in 2019, there was an average daily growth of 77.98%. The peak traffic volume occurred on February 17th, with a total of 2.9829 million vehicles exiting the provincial expressways, setting a new historical record.

During the Spring Festival holiday, the number of vehicles exiting the province on the expressways reached 6.9763 million, with an average of 775,100 vehicles per day. Compared to the holiday period in 2023, there was an average daily growth of 85.30%, and compared to the holiday period in 2019, there was an average daily growth of 107.75%. The number of vehicles entering the province during the holiday period reached 5.9419 million, with an average of 660,200 vehicles per day. Compared to the holiday period in 2023, there was an average daily growth of 71.61%, and compared to the holiday period in 2019, there was an average daily growth of 104.97%.

During the Spring Festival holiday, the Yangtze River Delta railway transported over 17 million passengers, with a daily average of over 2.15 million passengers, representing an increase of over 60% compared to the same period in 2019. The railway authorities predict that the peak passenger flow for the return journey will continue until the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.

In terms of civil aviation, Hefei Xinqiao Airport recorded nearly 350,000 arrivals and departures during the Spring Festival holiday, marking a 70.8% increase compared to the 2023 Spring Festival holiday. A total of 2,554 flights were operated, representing a 43.7% increase compared to the 2023 Spring Festival holiday. The passenger peak occurred on the sixth day of the first lunar month (February 15th), with a total of 47,800 arrivals and departures, setting a new record for the airport's daily passenger throughput.
