In the scorching summer, the projects construction in Anhui Province has also maintained a high level of activity. Recently, CCTV Finance released the Excavator Index, which showed that the construction machinery operating rate in Anhui in May was 79.2%, 15.7 percentage points higher than the national average, ranking first among the 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities for the fourth consecutive month. What is the Excavator Index and how is it monitored? It is an indicator that uses big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to connect each piece of machinery to a large network via onboard controllers, sensors, and wireless communication modules. Every shovel and every step leaves a data trace. Big data accurately depicts the situation of infrastructure construction starting rates and has become a barometer for observing changes in fixed asset investment, major project construction, and other economic changes. Correspondingly, from January to May, our province has completed investment of 763.22 billion yuan in key projects, accounting for 46% of the annual plan, exceeding the scheduled progress by 4.3 percentage points. There were 2,161 new projects started, accounting for 74.6% of the annual plan, exceeding the scheduled progress by 33 percentage points. From January to May, investment in the province's manufacturing industry increased by 18.9%, 12.9 percentage points higher than the national average.
