On September 26, the Anhui Provincial Public Health Clinical Center (Phase I) project's main structure was completed. As the "1" in the "1﹢5﹢N" infectious disease treatment system, the Public Health Clinical Center is an essential unit of Anhui's public health control system. It will take responsibility for preventing and handling major public health events in Anhui.
Relying on the teaching and researching resources of Anhui Medical University and the medical resources of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Anhui Provincial Public Health Clinical Center strives to promote the coordinated development of medical care, education and scientific research and try to be a first-class featured clinical center. The project (Phase I) covers an area of about 1,790 square meters, with a construction area of 22,282 square meters and 250 beds. The project started construction at the end of 2021 and is scheduled to be put into use at the end of 2023. The Anhui Provincial Public Health Clinical Center focuses on the construction of five centers: "Infectious Disease & Liver Disease Medical Center; Respiratory Disease & Emergency Care Center; Chronic Disease Management Center of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; Blood Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and Clinical Pathology Center." In the future, the center will switch between two modes. In emergencies, the center will warn proactively, mobilize resources, and respond to public health emergencies; in regular times, the center will act as a large general hospital to carry out routine diagnosis and treatment. According to reports, after the completion of the clinical center, the province's ability to respond to major public health emergencies will be significantly improved, a functional public health system will be effectively built, and Anhui's epidemic prevention and control system will be improved.
