China’s top 100 archaeological findings in the past 100 years were unveiled in Sanmenxia, central China’s Henan province, on Monday. The list was announced by the National Cultural Heritage Administration at the opening ceremony of the third Chinese Archaeological Congress. The Lingjiatan archaeological site was the only one in east China’s Anhui to make the list. The site is located in Lingjiatan village of Hanshan county. Since the first excavation in 1987, many important relics dating back to the late Neolithic Age have been unearthed, including altars, large clan cemeteries and jade vessels. Lingjiatan Culture is recognized as one of the three jade cultures in prehistoric China. The beginning of Chinese civilization was advanced till at least 5,300 years ago, due to the discovery of the Lingjiatan site.
