Fuyang: the 'pioneer' in northern Anhui

In the first three quarters of 2023, Fuyang's total output value reached 258.06 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 6.1%. The primary industry contributed 25.12 billion yuan, growing at a rate of 3.1%; the secondary industry contributed 99.42 billion yuan, growing at a rate of 5.8%; and the tertiary industry contributed 133.52 billion yuan, growing at a rate of 7.1%... These impressive achievements are not possible without hard work and dedication. Fuyang's role as the "pioneer" in northern Anhui has become even more prominent.

"We use advanced cultivation techniques to grow strawberries, with each greenhouse able to plant around 10,000 strawberry seedlings, and up to more than 12,000. This is more than double the yield of traditional methods." Zhang Dianxing, head of Huoying Fruit and Vegetable Professional Cooperative in Wenji Town, told reporters that strawberry cultivation is a traditional industry in Wenji. The strawberries in Wenji usually arrive on the market about a month earlier than those outside. At the same time, in order to extend the picking period for citizens, large strawberry farmers will plant different varieties of strawberries in one greenhouse, which can extend the picking period by more than two months. In this way, compared with traditional planting methods, strawberry growers can earn more than 50% more income. Currently, the strawberry planting area in Wenji Town has reached 24,000 mu.

In Wenji Town, there are more than 100 strawberry purchasing agents who buy strawberries from farmers and transport them to wholesalers in other regions. Through these purchasing agents, a large amount of fresh strawberries are shipped from Wenji Town every day to cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing. A person in charge of a strawberry purchasing agent introduced that after buying the strawberries from farmers, they immediately sort and package them. 

Fuyang City in Anhui has fully tapped the diverse values of rural areas, vigorously developed and strengthened the unique industries in rural areas, and continuously transformed resource advantages, ecological advantages, and cultural advantages into product advantages and industrial advantages.
