Anhui's trade through China-Laos Railway reached 170 million yuan in H1, 2023

Recently, it was reported that in the first half of this year, Anhui Province's trade through the China-Laos Railway reached a total value of 170 million yuan, with exports accounting for 80 million yuan and imports accounting for 90 million yuan. In June, the trade volume through the China-Laos Railway reached 60 million yuan, showing a month-on-month growth of 111.8%.

The China-Laos Railway is a landmark project in the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the opening of the railway, China's economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN countries has deepened continuously. The China-Laos Railway has become a new trade channel connecting China with Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, and other countries. According to customs statistics, in the first half of this year, the variety of goods traded through the China-Laos Railway in Anhui Province has been continuously enriched, covering more than 20 types of products. The exports of agricultural products, textile yarns, steel, electromechanical products, and food, totaling 80 million yuan, accounting for 98.8% of the total export value through the China-Laos Railway in Anhui Province. Private enterprises accounted for 140 million yuan of the total trade volume, accounting for 82.1% of the total trade volume through the China-Laos Railway in Anhui Province in the first half of this year. The trade volume with Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar through the China-Laos Railway reached 90 million yuan, 60 million yuan, and 20 million yuan respectively, accounting for 99.4% of the total trade volume through the China-Laos Railway in Anhui Province.

The responsible person from the Hefei Customs stated that they will continue to support the construction of railway hub stations and help improve the quality and efficiency of foreign trade through the China-Laos Railway. They will also focus on the development of cross-border e-commerce pilot zones within the province, support the use of railway services to expand markets in countries along the railway line, and promote local enterprises and products to "go global" faster.
