Anhui aims to make further progress in opening up and international cooperation in 2019 as it is deeply integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hefei-Europe freight trains made over 180 trips in 2018, tripling that of 2017, Wei Xiaojun, an official with the Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province said, adding that the trains transported not only local products, but also goods from Shanghai and Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces.
An air route from Hefei, capital of the eastern Chinese province, to Moscow was launched last year, bringing the total number of international passenger routes to 15. In addition, there is a cargo flight between Hefei and Los Angeles.
“Anhui will make efforts to strengthen infrastructure connectivity,” Wei said, stressing that the province will improve transportation network, launch more flights to countries and regions along the Belt and Road and increase the Hefei-Europe freight train services in 2019.
Promoting the delivery of cooperation projects is an important measure for integrating the province into the Belt and Road Initiative.
The joint venture (JV) established by JAC Motors, a local auto maker, with German auto giant Volkswagen went into operation in May 2018.
The province will accelerate the development of major overseas corporate projects and overseas industrial zones involving homegrown enterprises like Conch, Fengyuan and Chery this year, according to the commission.
Anhui will also deepen cooperation with German and Russia.
The province will continue to push ahead with JAC-Volkswagen JV programs and speed up the construction of the Sino-German (Hefei) SME International Innovation Industrial Park and the Sino-German (Wuhu) SME International Cooperation Park.
Meanwhile, it will attend the third meeting of the Yangtze River-Volga River Regional Cooperation Council.
