The railway will stretch 162 kilometers from Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, to Anqing in the southwest of the province. It will pass several counties including Feixi, Lujiang, Shucheng, Tongcheng and Huaining. Trains will be allowed to run at a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The track-laying project is planned to be completed on March 31, 2020. As a major section of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway, the Hefei-Anqing rail link will play an important role in improving the regional rail network of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and promoting economic growth and social development of the areas along it.
