As the 'summer holiday travel rush' is approaching, the number of flights departing the Hefei Xinqiao Airport is on the rise.
The airport is expected to handle 15,000 flights and over 2 million passengers from July 1 to August 31, up 6.3 percent and 13.8 percent year on year respectively, statistics from the Anhui Civil Aviation Airport Group Co.showed.
Tourists, students and business people will make up the bulk of the air passengers during the upcoming travel rush, said the company, adding that major destinations will be China’s Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Kunming and Chengdu, along with foreign cities such as Seoul, Bangkok, Phuket and Nha Trang.
Airline companies plan to launch flights from Hefei to Nanning, Mianyang and Bo’ao, while adding flights to Xiamen, Guilin, Hohhot, Erdos, Xining and Lijiang during the summer holiday.
Meanwhile, the number of flights from Hefei to Nha Trang will be raised from 3 to 6 on a weekly basis.
In addition, a chartered flight from Hefei to Moscow will be opened in late August.
