Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology issued the "Decision on Selecting the First Batch of National Popular Science Education Bases (2021-2025), Supplementary List". Twenty-two units in Anhui were selected, and Hefei Arboretum was once again recognized as a "National Science Education Base" for 2021-2025, after 2015-2019. Hefei Arboretum is "surrounded by water on three sides, mountains on the other side, and green trees and flowers everywhere." Although it is located in the city's core area, it is a place of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle. After years of development, the garden's tourism-supporting facilities have been improved, the plant diversity has been increased, and the landscape has become more refined. It has become a favorite scenic spot of Hefei citizens, with an average of more than 1 million tourists visiting the garden annually. Since 2017, Hefei Arboretum has expanded the park's area by 500 mu, renovated the landscape area by 1,000 mu, and built 12 new botanical gardens, including Magnolia Garden, Pomegranate Garden, Bean Garden, and Osmanthus Garden. The Plum Garden, Laurel Garden, and Chime Garden were upgraded; 21,027 trees and shrubs and 252,879 square meters of cover plants were added; eight scenic spots have been built. Now it has scenery in four seasons and has become a comprehensive botanical garden integrating germplasm resource conservation, scientific research, tourism, and recreation.
